9 days Great Migration Safari

This safari chases after the best Highlights that Tanzania has to offer. Multiple days in the Serengeti, chasing after the famous great migration, and visiting the Ngorongoro Crater. Due to the many days in Serengeti National Park we have the biggest chance of not only seeing, but also traveling with the great migration. Depending in the time of year and location of the migration, we’ll find ourselves in several area’s of the national park. Here we set up camp, as close to the migration as possible. This will give us the biggest chance to experience the wildlife-action-moments that everybody so eagers to see! *Note that this trip is not available year-round. Ask us when it’s the best time to do a ‘great migration safari’.

Day 1: Karibu Tanzania! - Arusha

Stop At: Arusha, Arusha, Arusha Region
When you walk out of Kilimanjaro Airport, you’ll be embraced in the relaxed vibes of Tanzania. Just outside, our driver will be waiting for you with our Logo. He will bring you to your Lodge, where you’ll recieve a warm welcome. On the way there you catch the first glimpse of the Tanzanian landscapes and maybe even the Kilimanjaro. Once arrived, we’ll give you a short briefing about the program of tomorrow, while enjoying a local drink. Karibu Sana

Day 2: A Dive in the Hippo Pool - Lake Manyara National Park

Stop At: Lake Manyara National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Arusha Region
This day we’ll get aboard the safari car and visit Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara is one of the smaller national parks of Tanzania, because of its huge lake that takes up most of the space. Nonetheless Lake Manyara is one of the parks with the biggest variety of landscapes.

You can find yourself in thick woodlands where elephants feast and hunters are hidden, muddy pools filled with Hippo’s, mysterious jungle area’s where monkeys rule, desert-like areas where giraffes pass through and the edge of the lake, where thousands of flamingo’s have their summer homes.

Of course not to forget about the impressive 400 meters deep Rift Valley Escapment. A tear in the earth that stretches out for thousands of Kilometers across East-Africa.

At the end of the day we will have a short drive and stay close to the next national park to have as much safari-experience as possible.

Day 3: Lion's Territory! - Serengeti National Park

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
We’ll get up in the early morning to have breakfast and start our safari. After a short drive from our camping location we will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We’ll pass trough here, past the Ngorongoro Crater and off to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park is largest park of the northern circuit and has a variety of landscapes, but is most famous for its great plains. Here the hunters, such as lion, cheetas (and many many other animals) thrive.

After our first safari day we will set up camp in the central of Serengeti. Tomorrow we will head towards the northern parts to chase the great migration and hopefully get a chance to see the mara river-crossing of the wildebeast.

Day 4: Eye in eye with the Great Migration - Full day Serengeti National Park

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
Day 1 of 2 in Northern Serengeti: The upcoming days we will head towards the northern parts of the Serengeti, known for the worldfamous river crossing of the wildebeast that happens there each year.

Early morning we can start with a sunrise safari. Or choose an optional balloon safari. During this time the animals are the most active and you’ll have the biggest chance of seeing some real National GeoGraphic / Animal Planet action! Here you will likely come eye to eye with the carnivors that rule these plains. Lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyena’s and many more. After the sunrise safari we’ll head back to camp to have a nice breakfast.

After our breakfast we will make way to chase the great migration that finds itself in the northern area’s and hopefully by the end of the day we will find ourself right in the middle of it. The undisputed highlight of a safari experience. We will camp in the northern district, close to the great migration. The following day we will spend going after the great migration and finding the wildest safari-moments.

Day 5: Day 2 of the Great Migration - Northern Serengeti

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
Day 2/2 Of the migration search. If we haven't found the migration yesterday, we will try to catch up with them today to have the perfect Safari Experience. Your professional english speaking guide will know how to find & track the great migration, along with many other forms of wildlife to give you the best safari experience possible

Day 6: Roadtrip on the Great Plains: Serengeti North - Serengeti Central:

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
After waking up to an amazing sunrise we will slowly have our breakfast and start another exciting day. This day will also be our last full day in the Serengeti. In the morning we will check up with the great migration and try to come as close as possible and spot some lurking hunters hidden in the grasses. On our way to the central region, we will keep close contact with our radio and will try to spot some of the animals that we haven’t seen yet. This way we can tick as many animals of your Tanzania-wildlife-bucketlist as possible!

Day 7: Into the Crater! (Spot the BIG 5) - Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Crater

Stop At: Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Tanzania
After an early breakfast we will drive towards a steep and narrow road that takes you into the legendary ngorongoro crater. A bumpy, but adventureous road! The slopes are forested but soon the landscape changes to savannah.

Down in the crater, you’ll be able to spot many animals from a distance. Here is your best chance to spot all the members of the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and if you’re lucky even the leopard. Also the chances of seeing the endangered Rhino is the highest here! After the morning gamedrive we’ll have a picknick-lunch at a beautiful location from where you’ll be able to see many animals. After the lunch we’ll slowly drive back to the edge of the crater and stop whenever we pass an interesting sight! Once we’ve reached the edge, somewhere in the early afternoon, we’ll drive on to the next lodge. Here we will arrive late afternoon/early evening.

Day 8: Morning Cocktails & Airplanes - Relax at the lodge & flight home

Stop At: Mto wa Mbu, Mto wa Mbu, Lake Manyara National Park, Arusha Region
The safari is, unfortunately over, but this day you’ll wake up full with everlasting memories and great stories to tell your friends & family back home. This is the your last day, you can choose to relax at the lodge and enjoy a not so guilty morning-cocktail or use this last day to experience a bit more of Tanzania by doing an extra activity.

At the end of the day, you’ll take your flight home. Or maybe to Zanzibar? If not, then you’ll set foot on home-ground again on the 9th day.
