Stop At: Andahuaylillas, Andahuaylillas, Cusco Region
Early departure from Cusco for approximately 1 hour to Andahuaylillas, a typical Andean village famous for its gorgeously decorated Church of Saint Peter, patron saint of the town. The church’s artistic majesty is reflected in the coffered ceilings in Mudejar style, immense variety and richness of canvas paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, such as the series dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle, the polychrome ceiling and the triumphal arch of the main nave. This beautiful church is also known as the Sistine Chapel of America.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Puente Qeswachaka, Cusco Peru
After the visit, journey for 1 hour and 30 minutes until reaching four spectacular lagoons: Pomacanchi, Acopia, Asnaqocha and Pampamarca or Tungasuca; the perfect stop to enjoy a nutritious box lunch surrounded by this magnificent landscape and take plenty of photographs.
Continue the excursion for another 1 hour and 15 minutes until arriving at the impressive Q’eswachaka Inca suspension bridge, last of its kind. Every year, four Quechua communities renew this bridge that is over five centuries old, made entirely of Ichu (solid straw of vegetable fiber) with a length of 28.67 meters above the Apurimac River. The communities work together to pull the ropes and stretch them out; builders leave the old bridge in place until they have hauled the new cables across the Apurimac Gorge, then cut it down and let it fall into the river.

Day 2: Checacupe / Palccoyo / Cusco
Stop At: Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain, 08230, Peru
Early morning departure from your hotel in Checacupe to the town of Combapata. After a 15-minute drive, enter a dirt road that leads to Palccoyo community for approximately 1 and ½ hours until reaching the parking lot where the road ends. On the way, appreciate a forest of stones formed naturally millions of years ago, possibly local herders caring for to their llamas and alpacas pasturing on the land. Still little known and far from many tourists, Palccoyo is located at 4900 meters.
From this point take a short and gentle walk towards the stunning mountain range viewpoints to admire the array of colors that stretch out as far as the eye can see. In the distance, it is possible to see the snow-capped peak of the Ausangate glacier, the 5th highest peak in Peru and the largest in Cusco at 6,384 meters. The best time to visit Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains is generally during the dry season months lasting from May until November. During the rainy season, the trail can sometimes be muddy and visibility may be lower due to precipitation, fog or snow.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., begin the return journey heading to Cusipata town to enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, journey back to Cusco, arriving at around 4:00 p.m.
