Ntarama & Nyamata Memorial Day Tour - Rwanda

The Rwandan genocide is one of the heaviest moments in human history. An airplane crash in 1994 carrying the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi provided a spark for an organised campaign of violence against the Tutsi and moderate Hutu civilians across the country. On this educational tour, we focus on educating the world on the importance of unity and love within our neighbourhood and the world at large.

Stop At: Ntarama Church, Kigali Rwanda

Sitting on a hill just 30 kilometers from Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, Ntarama Church looks unassuming. But upon entering the church, it is clear that the building holds far more significance than the building conveys.
Get to learn history of Rwanda

    Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Nyamata Church, Kigali Rwanda

Nyamata Parish Catholic Church to pay your respects to the remains of more than 45,000 Tutsis killed in and around the church complex. Your tour of this site will be led by a genocide survivor and should take about 45 minutes. As you view the skulls and bones, some in wooden caskets covered with purple drapes, the guide will explain how the Hutu militants used grenades to blow open the steel doors of the church to get to the Tutsis hiding inside. You will also see the marks left by the rockets and automatic weapons used to slaughter about 10,000 people in the church. Look up to the ceiling and you will notice grenade shrapnel that remains embedded there.
